We spent last Sunday hanging out at Zero Otto Nove on Arthur Ave. in the Bronx with chef/owner Roberto Paciullo. Our mission was to find out all we could about the simply incredible pies (best in NYC!) that Roberto churns out every day in his wood-burning oven and Nikki was even able to get a pizza-making lesson from Roberto's star pizzialo, Enzo.
Enjoy the footage (which was shot by ace-camera person Chessy Giannettino) and more videos to come!

I agree. Some of the best pizza in NYC...even friends from Italy said the pizza at 089 is as good/better than alot in ITA...with the exception of some of the pizzerie in Naples.

Roberto has NAILED the Neapolitan/Salerno style of pizza. I was really surprised as to how close he got to the Holy Grail, which is Da Michele in Naples. The first time I went to "089" last Nov after it first opened, I thought the pizza was really good but the tomatoes were kind of lacking. I don't know if he changed them up, but all we can say is WOW!

I truly love the pizza at Zero and think it is among the best that I have eaten in my 62 years. But I am truly puzzled that the times critic Frank Bruni in his last article on the newer pizza restaurants in NYC was so dismissive, going out of his way to single out Zero's Margherita pie as "insipid" This is not the first time Bruni has been so critical of Roberto. He's dissed Roberto's as well as Zero. Anyone know what his problem is? Does he have a thing against Roberto or against the Bronx or what?

Frank Bruni is a great writer but comes across like a real b--ch at times. I doubt he has an issue with the Bronx though. I will add this in defense of Roberto's pizza. We went to the Tarry Lodge on Friday night and i was underwhelmed considering the hype the place received. Robert's pies were better. And to the dummy who said that the Tarry Lodge makes the best clam pie in the US, wow, you need to go out and taste a few more son!

Thumbs up for Frankie and Fanucci.
